Beginning in 2009, the "John Shanahan Achievement Award" will be presented at the end of each year to a player who distinguished himself by his sportsmanship, ability and committment to his team and teammates that season In so doing, this child manifests the ideals of Saint David's School

A plaque on the trophy will be engraved with the name of the boy and his year and will be displayed in the trophy case at the 94th Street gym.
